As a University of Notre Dame and Teach for America alumna, Kendra Washington-Bass’ educational foundation was built as a middle school teacher and principal in New York City public schools. Continuing her education, she attained a Master’s degree in Urban and Multicultural Education at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York, and then her Specialist and Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Mercer University in Georgia.
For 15 years, Kendra created professional development programming as the Executive Director of Leadership Development in Gwinnett County Public Schools in Georgia, where she helped to advance the district’s
leadership pipeline through programs like the Aspiring Principal Program (APP) and the Aspiring Leader Program (ALP). Now, she continues this important work through her company, Leader Bubble, where she brings her expertise as well as all parts of her bold, authentic, and affirming coaching style to educators in leadership roles.
Outside of her work at Leader Bubble, the native New Yorker and current Georgia resident enjoys traveling with her husband, two young adult sons, and extended family. Kendra is also an avid sports fan and loves college football. Go Irish!
Unwrapped is a dual story by Kendra Washington-Bass and Kelly Peaks Horner that details their personal and professional journeys that have led them to unwrap how we have been conditioned to perpetuate these "isms" so that we can begin self-discovery, recovery, and eventually create an arena for women educational leaders to build positive and productive educational experiences that lead to equitable access for all students, especially our most marginalized.
“I admire greatly her talent in connecting with individuals, making connections and building trust. She understands school leadership at a deep level, both from the school and district perspective. She is a skilled communicator, verbally and in written form. She is a team player and her facilitation skills are remarkable.”
